The American School of Doha hosted its annual booster club softball tournament Mar. 2-5 at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.

AUAB-Bombers, which is the name of the base military softball team, scored more than 70 runs in four games.  The team won the tournament and received the 2016 ASD Champions trophy.

The Bombers battled with high intensity and made key plays on defense, which held opposing teams to less than double-digit scores in each of the bracket games, said Tech. Sgt. Brian Price 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Host Nation Coordination Cell and AUAB-Bombers assistant coach.

X-Bats, one of the opposing teams in the tournament, were up going into the third inning before the AUAB-Bombers took the win.

“This event generated high morale for all members involved,” said Tech. Sgt. William Haney, 8th Expeditionary Aerial Mobility Squadron noncommissioned officer in charge of passenger service and AUAB-Bombers head coach.

“Everyone expressed their appreciation and support for having the opportunity to compete in this tournament,” said Price. “The team wanted to thank all parties that supported this event and made it possible for them to compete among fellow teammates and opposing players.”
