AL UDEID AIR BASE, Qatar -- The U.S. Air Forces Central Command Instruction 36-2903, a supplemental publication outlining dress and appearance standards for personnel assigned to USAFCENT, has been revised and is effective June 1, 2016.
The following highlights are some of the changes. However, personnel here are encouraged to review the entire instruction to ensure they follow its prescribed standards.
• Some patches are no longer authorized, such as Air Force Forces, Directorate and Division, or specific position patches. Only squadron or specialized patches are authorized, such as explosive ordnance disposal, security forces and Tactical Air Control Party. Patches with local language or writing are authorized only for those members assigned to or part of the Host Nation Coordination Cell or Air Advisors.
• Airmen throughout the Area of Responsibility are authorized to wear Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform on Friday, if they currently maintain a set. However, under no circumstances will OCPs be issued solely for the purpose of "OCP Friday."
• While in uniform, rings must be gold, silver, or other metal that is conservative in nature. Composite bands with colors such as green, blue, pink, etc. are not authorized.
• Personnel departing home station June 1, 2016 or later must wear the sage green boots, as tan boots will no longer be authorized with Airman Battle Uniforms.
• U.S. Flag will be subdued cloth or infrared. Use black cable thread or infrared for unit and specialized OCP patches.
• Authorization for blue backpacks, black belts and Mountain boots has been removed.
• Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron Airmen wearing the Airman Battle Shirt are authorized a “2-roll up” on sleeves.
• Guidance regarding the wear of the Army Combat Uniform has been deleted with the exception of the ABS.
• USAFCENT personnel assigned to Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, may wear the USAFCENT morale shirts on Fridays. TACP may wear the same uniform pattern as their aligned U.S. Army unit, when or as authorized by the USAFCENT or Functional Area Manager.
• When conducting official duties, all Honor Guard members participating will wear the same uniform such as all ABUs or all Flame Resistant-OCPs.
