Members of the U.S. Air Force’s 380th Air Expeditionary Wing and the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas, commemorated Veterans Day by participating in a friendly truck-pulling competition here, Nov. 11, 2021.
The 380th AEW's Enduring 5/6 Group coordinated the, “Pull Together for Veterans,” event to remind service members about sacrifices of all veterans.
“Our hope is for this event to raise awareness for all 380th Air Expeditionary Wing members about how veterans and their families sacrificed their lives, experienced hardships and battled mentally and physically,” U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Kiante Crafton, a logistics planner with the 380th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron and one of the event coordinators.
During the event, teams representing the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, took turns pulling a fire engine and a Humvee across a parking lot, while being timed.
The U.S. Air Force won bragging rights and a commemorative uniform patch, after each team conducted an extra, tie-breaking, pull.
“We appreciate all veterans, both military and civilian, who continue to serve alongside us servicemembers today,” Crafton said.
The Enduring 5/6 Group’s mission is enhancing professionalism, providing partnership and supporting the mission through building resilient leaders and strengthening morale. To learn more about the organization, the next meeting will be November 24, 2021 at the Oasis Levitow room.
