The 380th Air Expeditionary Wing was the host for the Pro Volleyball Sand Slam tour, featuring pro volleyball players Jace Pardon, Kelly Reeves, Jennifer Snyder and Corinne Quiggle, at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 29-30, 2021.

The Pro Volleyball Sand Slam tour is a clinic/match/meet-and-greet where service members can play and learn or watch and learn from the four pro beach volleyball players.

“This specific tour was originally scheduled and started in February 2020,” said Brian Lee, tour manager. “We were in Djibouti and the tour was cut short due to Covid. Everyone wanted to complete it since we started it.”

The tour included meet and greets, an educational skills clinic, interactive workout training, a beach BBQ, serving competition and local all-star games in which the players joined with local troops in a series of games.

“It is such an honor for us to come out here and see the troops,” said Quiggle. “We respect so much about what the military does.

Lee said that everyone was excited to come whether they’ve done it before or it was their first time.

“They just want to have troops come out, whether they’re experienced or beginners in volleyball, just get them having fun and enjoy the sport more and it’s an opportunity for troops to get your minds off work for a while and have some fun.”

The event was sponsored by Armed Forces Entertainment, an official function of the U.S. Dept. of Defense.
