AL DHAFRA AIR BASE, United Arab Emirates -- Airmen from the 1st Expeditionary Civil Engineer Group/577th Expeditionary PRIME BEEF Squadron and the 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron are working together to make enhancements and upgrades to Al Dhafra Air Base.
The two units have been combining efforts throughout the fall to install new water mains on the base, that will support fire suppression systems at new lodging facilities that are scheduled to be built at the base.
The 577th is stationed at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and forward deploys Airmen throughout the Central Command Area of Responsibility to support Civil Engineer Squadrons at air bases in the region.
When the two squadrons work together, we bring different capabilities to the job,” explained Master Sgt. Leon Hampton, a member of the 577th.
The upgrades and planned new dormitories are part of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing’s mission for each rotation of Airmen to leave the base a little better than they found it, to better support the ongoing mission.
