U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Joshua Wiener, Ninth Air Force (Air Forces Central) command chief, recently visited the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing for an immersion day to gain a first-hand look at the mission.

The immersion provided the Chief with an opportunity to connect with Airmen while recognizing the day-to-day efforts made to ensure mission success in joint partnerships and operations.

“It’s important to get out to the units to find ways that AFCENT can enhance interoperability and regional stability, as well as to recognize the exceptional Airmen finding innovative ways to drive mission success,” Wiener said.

During his visit, Wiener toured multiple facilities and set aside time to share a meal with members from each tier of the enlisted force structure – enabling individuals to see the impact of their roles from a different perspective.

“Having the opportunity to sit down with the current AFCENT command chief helped me step out of my comfort zone and allowed me to develop a better understanding of the big picture,” said a Senior Airman, assigned to the 380th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron. “It helped me to understand the meaning behind what we’re doing here and what we’re working toward as a team.”
