A civilian maintenance team at the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing finished the last phase inspection of the U-2 here Sept. 16.

Maintenance inspections are being consolidated at Beale Air Force Base, Calif. due to budgetary necessity, so the team from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is saying their goodbyes.

"We're going to miss their expertise," said Lt. Col. "DJ," from the 99th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron here.

"They've done a great job the past seven years and we thank them for the impeccable service they've performed."

The team consists of crew chiefs, hydraulic and fuels experts and avionics and electrical experts. By conducting their inspections at the 380th AEW, the team provided an additional maintenance location for aircraft and supported the flightline when needed for heavy maintenance jobs. They have been conducting these inspections at the wing since 2004.
