46 deployed Airmen selected for promotion at the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing

SOUTHWEST ASIA --  Leadership at the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing recognized 46 Airmen who were selected for promotion to the rank of staff sergeant at a ceremony here Aug. 4.

"Every promotion is exciting, but the promotion from senior airman to staff sergeant is when the Air Force recognizes an Airman as not only a worker, but as a leader," said Col. Joel Jackson, the vice commander of the 380th AEW. "It is the leadership of the professional NCO corps that is the backbone of our Air Force, and that is what makes this promotion so exciting. These individuals are making the huge jump to be a part of that elite group."

Across the Air Force, 11,337 people were selected out of 26,549 eligible senior airmen, for a promotion rate of 42.7 percent.

The average score for those selected was 275.56, with an average time in grade of 1.88 years and an average time in service of 4.44 years. The average score was based on the following point averages: 131.68 for enlisted performance reports, 0.96 for decorations, 63.49 for the promotion fitness examination and 56.66 for the specialty knowledge test.
