Chief Master Sergeant Timothy Horn, 380th Air Expeditionary Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant, recently received a large shipment of care packages that he was able to parcel out to Airmen across this undisclosed base in Southwest Asia and other Airmen across the area of responsibility.

The packages were donated by Our Troops Online, a charitable organization founded by Bob Williams.

"Every day I get to see the great work done by our Airmen," said Chief Horn. "It is refreshing to see their hard work recognized by our civilian friends. The packages really raise the Airmen's spirits and bring them a much needed reminder of home."

Mr. Williams, a former Sailor, saw the need to send care packages to service members when he visited bases throughout the AOR. On his visits he noticed there were things missing that the troops needed to do their jobs, or at least items that would help to make their jobs a little easier, like spotlights, flashlights, red dot scopes, and knives.

In addition to snacks, he sends other products such as CDs, DVDs, batteries, school supplies, and toys. He also sends personal hygiene items like deodorant, Q-tips and shampoo. Some items that are sent help troops interact with the local communities that they are deployed to. Stuffed animals and pens have been an effective olive branch to help military members win the hearts and minds of the local population.

Chief Horn said that he was happy to be part of the care package delivery.

"Mr. Williams is a great example that you can serve even while not being in the military," he said. "His generosity reminds me of what we are fighting for over here."
