Staff Sgt. Tony Curtis of the 380th Expeditionary Communications Squadron earned the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing's "Warrior of the Week" honors for the week of Jan. 13 to 19.

Sergeant Curtis, deployed from the 83rd Network Operations and Security Center at Langley Air Force Base, Va., serves as a network operations technician in the 380th ECS. The Douglas, Ga., native described how his deployed duties support the mission.

"I'm responsible for central management of server hardware, operating systems and applications," said Sergeant Curtis.

Sergeant Curtis' Air Force job description shows that he is critical in sustaining computer network infrastructure, cryptographic equipment and deployable switching systems in a fixed and deployed environment. He also cares for the systems through "effective troubleshooting, repair, diagnostics and system performance analysis."

During his deployment to the 380th AEW, Sergeant Curtis said his goals are to "study for promotion and become a better person." Additionally, the things he said he enjoys the most during his current deployment includes "intramural basketball, working out and making new friends."

The 380th AEW is comprised of four groups and 12 squadrons and the wing's deployed mission includes air refueling, surveillance and reconnaissance in support of overseas contingency operations in Southwest Asia. The wing supports Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
