Fueling the fight: Airmen making a difference one gallon at a time in Southwest Asia
Senior Master Sgt. James Calhoun, superintendent of the 380th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels management flight, checks a 200,000-gallon fuel bladder at the fuel bladder storage facility at a non-disclosed base in Southwest Asia on Jan. 6, 2010. On any given day, Sergeant Calhoun and other fuels Airmen in his flight can off-load up to 600,000 gallons of fuel from host nation supplier fuel trucks which is then stored to one of 16 fuel bladders. In 2009, the 380th ELRS fuels management flight pumped more than 188 million gallons of fuel in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. Sergeant Calhoun is deployed from the 6th Logistics Readiness Squadron at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., and his hometown is Owensboro, Ky. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Tech. Sgt. Scott T. Sturkol/Released)
