Celebration of Eid ul-Fitr
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan -- Afghan locals, Department of Defense civilians, as well as U.S. and coalition forces dance to Afghan music during a celebration of Eid ul-Fitr, the Muslim feast that marks the end of fasting for Ramadan here, Sept. 22, 2009. Ramadan was the month in which the first verses of the Qur'an were claimed to have been revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. During Ramadan, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds.
