SOUTHWEST ASIA -- In an effort to promote comprehensive wellness, the 386th Expeditionary Medical Group hosted a wellness fair in which more than 20 wing agencies provided information and resources to the service members and civilians assigned to 'The Rock'.

Capt. Tisha Cornett, 386th EMDG, organized the event around Air Mobility Command's Comprehensive Airman Fitness model.

"The four pillar of Comprehensive Airman Fitness are physical, mental, social and spiritual," said Cornett. "This is a comprehensive fair so it's not just medical. We also have representation from finance, legal, the education center and the chapel. We wanted to get away from just the medical group and the physical aspect of wellness."

Some of the other participants included AAFES which provided information about the positive and negative effects of supplements on the body, Army veterinarians who provided information about the dangers of bug and animal bites and the effects of rabies on humans and the wing Sexual Assault Response Coordinator who provided information about sexual assault prevention and response.

Cornett wanted to ensure everyone who participated in the event not only learned something, but also had fun.

"We really wanted to make it interactive and fun as opposed to here's a flyer, here's a stress ball, here's my business card," she said. "We really challenged all the participants to bring something to satisfy that requirement so we got some neat stuff in there."

From the fire department's equipment donning competition, the praise dance group's "Ministry in Motion" performance, and spinning and yoga demonstrations, there was truly something for everyone that attended the event.

"If we could touch a few hundred people by getting them to come out and get involved, I would say this was successful," Cornett said.
