This week’s Rock Solid Warrior is Staff Sgt. Dylan Huffman, Water and fuel systems maintenance craftsman with the 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineering Squadron, deployed from the 914th Civil Engineering Squadron, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York.

The Rock Solid Warrior program is a way to recognize and spotlight the Airmen of the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing for their positive impact and commitment to the mission.

Why did you join the Air Force?

I joined the Air Force to gain leadership experience. I also wanted to give myself the opportunity to travel and help others. Most importantly, I want to stand up for our country; especially for those that are unable to themselves.

How is your deployed unit/job different from your home unit/job?

It is very different. At my home station, we prepare and train for deployments, whereas in a deployed location we actually put our skills to the test and keep the base up and running.

What are some of your professional and personal goals?

A professional goal I wish to accomplish is attaining my Community College of the Air Force associates degree. I also hope I will make an impact on the Airmen I supervise. My personal goal is to always be there for my family.

What is your favorite part of your mission here?

My favorite part of the mission is knowing that our work has a direct impact on the overall mission

What are some of your hobbies?

I enjoy hunting, fishing and playing with my kids.

What are some of the challenges you face here? How do you overcome them?

It is challenging being away from my family, but with video chatting I stay connected and get to look forward to being back home.
