I’m Senior Airman Nikki McWhirt, a 386th Expeditionary Communications Squadron knowledge operations manager. I am deployed from 439th Airlift Wing at Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts. I joined the Air Force to challenge myself and experience new things.

As a knowledge operations manager, my job consists of operating information systems, managing records and information, creating file plans, providing assistance with Privacy Act and Freedom of Information Act items, and managing publications and forms from start to disposal. The best part of my job is meeting new people and networking, as well as learning new things I can take back with me.

Here in the deployed environment, SharePoint is used much more than at my home station. We also have mostly civilians at home station who handle records management, but here we are the base records managers. Everyone in the 386 ECS is extremely helpful and knowledgeable so there is always someone that I can ask for assistance.

My professional goal is to go back to college and pursue a degree in human resources and business management. My personal goal is to do a cross-country trip within the next two years because traveling and road-trips are my passion. I also would like to start doing 5Ks and do the Tough Mudder next year.

Some of my hobbies are hiking, photography, dancing and traveling.
