SOUTHWEST ASIA – I’m Tech. Sgt. Marcus Hyatt, a 386th Medical Group medical resources flight chief. I am deployed from the 75th Medical Group Hill Air Force Base, Utah. I joined the Air Force to be able to provide a better life for my family.

My job here is to provide patient administration support to the medical group, coordinate the movement of all patient travel requests and provide oversight of the Medical Control Center. The best part of my mission is communicating with different agencies and our coalition partners and coming up with better processes to complete the mission.

Back at home my job is slightly different. Medical resources flight chiefs can work many different jobs and fill different positions. In this deployed location many of these jobs are combined into one. Medical records, systems, readiness and working in the aeromedical evacuation system are a few of the jobs that make up part of our duties here.

Due to limited personnel, things get really busy in the Medical Control Center during crisis incidents. Often times it is difficult to monitor radio traffic, update information in our events log, answer telephones and keep up with communication; however, we overcome these challenges by working efficiently as a team.

My professional goal is to become a First Sergeant and eventually make chief master sergeant. My personal goal is to continue weight training and be able to bench 500 pounds.

Some of my hobbies include working out, reading, and playing video games; I am the man in NBA 2K17!
