This week's Rock Solid Warrior is Tech. Sgt. Desiree Sehr, a 386th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron maintenance operations controller, deployed from the 120th Airlift Wing of the Montana Air National Guard.

WHY DID YOU JOIN?

I wanted to serve my country, travel, and meet new people. I also wanted to have more opportunities for my future besides going to college and getting a job.

DEPLOYED UNIT VS HOME STATION?

I am a traditional guardsman back at home so here I get to do MOC everyday where there are a lot more lines of flying and many different types of aircraft. I also have a new sense of comradery and get the chance to work with people from around the world.

GOALS?

My professional goals include advancing my knowledge in MOC, making master sergeant, taking professional military education course 14, and advancing my leadership skills. My personal goals include continuing to excel in my civilian job as a dental hygienist and to expand my horizons about patient care and needs and to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of different cultures.

FAVORITE PART OF MISSION?

Having a key role in Operation Inherent Resolve as well as other operations and knowing my work directly impacts the offensive.

HOBBIES?

I enjoy anything outdoors: camping, rafting, snow shoeing, cross country skiing. My passion is hiking and traveling, which fortunately for me I have been able to do in Europe.

CHALLENGES?

There are new duties here for MOC that I did not do back home. I ask a lot of questions when I do not know the answer. I have learned so much from everyone I work with from senior airmen to master sergeants. They have a vast amount of knowledge I can learn from.
