ALI AL SALEM AIR BASE, Kuwait -- The 386th Air Expeditionary Wing hosted a Media Day Oct. 2, 2023 at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, to showcase how the base’s mission, coalition partnerships and enduring relationship with Kuwait help to maintain regional security and stability.
During media day, several units across the 386th AEW demonstrated their missions to local Kuwaiti media outlets through briefings, simulations and hands-on experiences. There was a big emphasis on highlighting the operational overlap with Kuwaiti forces.
With 30 years of history together, Kuwait has supported U.S. operations at AASAB by helping with infrastructure needs, base security and much more.
“We are integrated with our Kuwaiti and coalition partners in our operations on a daily basis, ensuring that we have more than just a transactional relationship,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Julie Gaulin, 386th Air Expeditionary Wing commander. “Our relationships are enduring, having been around for decades, and we want to make sure we cultivate that.”
The wing is the U.S. Central Command theatre gateway, executing a mission on a regional and global scale, which pushes U.S. military leadership’s priority of projecting combat power throughout the area of responsibility.
“Our Airmen train every day with the help and support of our coalition and host nation partners to address any threat that is out there,” Gaulin added. “We do a good job of deterring any threats to make sure our forces and Kuwaiti allies are living safely and prosperously.”
