Name: Technical Sgt. Andrea D. Kirks

Deployed Unit: 386th Expeditionary Medical Group, Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility

Duty Title: Aerospace Medical Service Craftsman

Home unit/station: 910th Medical Squadron, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio

How do you support the mission here? I work in the CASF (Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility) where I help provide medical support to all military personnel and civilians who are injured either in battle related or non-battle incidents that are awaiting transport to Germany for more definitive care.

Favorite movie: Wedding Crashers

Favorite restaurant: Sushi Rock

Favorite superhero: Wonder Woman

Place you would most like to vacation to or visit: Galapagos Island and Greece

Favorite actor/actress: Julia Roberts

Favorite food: Sushi and Italian Food

Favorite musical group/musician/singer: Adele

How many times have you deployed and what makes this deployment unique? This is my second deployment. For my first deployment, two years ago, I worked in the ER in Balad where I saw battle injuries constantly. Here I have more time to get involved with things around the Medical Group as well as around the wing.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? At my home base I work with PIMR (Preventive Health Assessment and Individual Medical Readiness) ensuring that all members that visit the medical squadron have completed everything needed to keep them 100% medically ready to deploy. For this deployment I am helping all military members or civilians who have been injured to receive exceptional care during their transit to Germany where they will receive definitive care for their injuries.
