How do you support the mission here? I provide healthcare in two main areas: One, Expeditionary Medical Support (EMEDS) Clinic; Two, Contingency Aero Medical Staging Facility (CASF). In EMEDS we see a variety of people with issues ranging from sports related injuries, heat related issues, chest pain, etc. We also respond to 911 calls and in-flight emergencies on the flight line. In our 25 bed in-patient CASF we assist with the mission in providing medical support and movement of patients. We perform anti-hijacking procedures for the patients and their attendants prior to entering CASF and then prior to departing. With psychologically diagnosed patients, I am responsible for educating and teaching their attendants on proper restraint techniques. I also maintain our two Ambus Vehicles and our Ambulance that we use for our missions. Lastly, my professionalism, positive mentality, patience, sense of humor, and personality has brought everyone in a better mood and comfort towards the mission. This is my first deployment and honestly the people that I have had the honor of working with have made this deployment unique and unforgettable. Favorite actor/actress: Christopher Reeve Favorite food: Corn Dogs & Cheese Curds Favorite musical group/musician/singer: Johnny Cash How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? At Langley AFB, I work in the Family Health Clinic and we see a wide range and variety of medical situations with children, adults, and the elderly. Here, I deal a lot more with emergency issues; whether it be 911 Calls or In-Flight Emergencies (IFE). All in all, I love what I do here and back at my home base; it truly gives me a sense of purpose.
