How do you support the mission here? We support the mission by maintaining all the safety equipment loaded on all the aircraft. We inspect/maintain night vision goggles for night flight, helmets, many different types of oxygen equipment, parachutes, body armor, life rafts, life preservers, survival vest, global positioning system equipment, and we also issue the crews their M-9 weapons. We load all AFE equipment on the aircraft. All of our equipment is on different inspections cycles and we have to track all of the equipment for inspection purpose. We also have numerous additional duties that also take up time throughout the week.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? It's about the same as home station except for the longer hours, less manning, higher ops tempo, and the extended work week. Once you get settled in, the work load becomes natural and time seems to fly on by. Also having crews from Dyess AFB, Yokota Air Base and Little Rock Air Force Base combined into one big unit brings on the added challenge of tailoring your ways of working so that the mission operates smoothly.
