Rock Solid Warrior: Staff Sgt. Mary Ann Neffle Published Feb. 25, 2011 SOUTHWEST ASIA -- This week's 386th Air Expeditionary Wing Rock Solid Warrior comes from the 386th Expeditionary Medical Group Name: Staff Sgt. Mary Ann Neffle Unit: 386th Expeditionary Medical Group Duty Title: Dental Assistant Home unit/station: Wright-Patterson Medical Center Dental Clinic, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton Ohio How do you support the mission here? I support the mission as a dental assistant for 386th EMDG clinic. I work directly with Capt. Matthew Snyder and we provide emergency dental care to patients here. I have also provided dental care to K-9 dogs who are vital to mission success. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment, but it is unique because I am getting back to the basics of my career field. It is gratifying to use the core skills and training from my tech school and home base to care for those in need. I am also excited to learn how a expeditionary medical clinic works and operates and I help out wherever I can. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? At my home station I had more administrative duties and here I have the ability to work with a dentist again. It has been great to have the opportunity to be back in patient care.
