Rock Solid Warrior

  • Published
This week's 386th Air Expeditionary Wing Rock Solid Warrior comes from the 386th Expeditionary Communications Squadron.

Name: Senior Airman Luis Luna

Unit: 386th Expeditionary Communications Squadron / Client Support Team

Duty Title: Client Support Team Technician

Home Station: 552nd Air Control Networks Squadron; Tinker Air Force Base, Okla.

How do you support the mission here?
As a member of the Client Support Team, I support all communications equipment the customer touches. I maintain and troubleshoot all computers, printers and telephones here, including equipment on the flight line and at the Army's Logistics Support Area.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this deployment unique?
This is my second deployment. It's different from my first one because I'm assigned to the Communications Squadron now. Previously, I was the only Client Support Administrator assigned to a Security Forces Squadron. Since the communications and computer system AFSCs recently merged into the new 3D Cyberspace Communications career field, I've had the opportunity to expand my computer knowledge and work on a variety of communications equipment, including all base computer systems, phones, video teleconferencing equipment and public announcement systems. I also assist in Land Mobil Radio re-keys and Personal Wireless Communications Systems support.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base?
The deployed work environment here is much closer-knit than at home station. At this base, I work with the same people I live with and hang out with during off-duty time.
