Rock Solid Warrior Published Aug. 13, 2010 SOUTHWEST ASIA -- This week's 386th Air Expeditionary Wing Rock Solid Warrior comes from the 387th Air Expeditionary Group. Name: Staff Sgt. Arthur Malecki Unit: 387 Expeditionary Support Squadron/Civil Engineer Duty Title: Structural Quality Assurance and Evaluation Home Station: 5th Civil Engineer Squadron Minot Air Force Base How do you support the mission here? I am a quality assurance evaluator for construction projects. I also complete routine job orders and assist other Civil Engineer craftsman with their work. How many times have you deployed and what makes this deployment unique? I have deployed five times throughout my Air Force career. This deployment is unique because my responsibilities here cover a much larger scale of operations. Also, this is my first deployment as the only structural craftsman at the deployed location, so that makes the job a bit more challenging. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? I am doing a lot more detailed planning in the deployed environment, as compared to home station where the majority of my work is standard base maintenance.
