U.S. Air Force Col. John R. Gordy II, 386th Air Expeditionary Wing commander, completed his last flying mission with the wing here June 12, 2010 at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. Members of the wing gave the commander the traditional dousing of water from a fire hose and extinguisher as well as non-alcoholic sparkling champagne after his flight.

Colonel Gordy will relinquish command of the 386th AEW in a ceremony later this month and then head to his next assignment at the Pentagon. The colonel is a master navigator with more than 4,700 flight hours in C-130 E/H and T-43 aircraft.
