Rock Solid Warrior

  • Published
This week's 386th Air Expeditionary Wing Rock Solid Warrior comes from the 386th Expeditionary Medical Group.

Name: Senior Airman Robert Davison

Unit: 386th Expeditionary Medical Group

Duty title: Radiology technician

Home unit/station: Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

How do you support the mission here?
I support the mission by providing diagnostic imaging, radiation safety, and patient care for members of the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, U.S. Army's Life Support Area and the surrounding forward operating bases. This means I create medical images of the human anatomy to aid radiologists and other doctors in diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this deployment unique?
This is my first deployment. What makes it unique is that this is also my first time out of the United States. Culturally, it's been a really interesting learning experience.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base?
At my home base, I have an expensive x-ray machine that takes highly detailed pictures. In my job here, I must do the same things, but on a portable x-ray machine that's less detailed. So, I must adapt and still provide high quality films for the doctors.
