Rock Solid Warrior

  • Published
This week's 386th Air Expeditionary Wing Rock Solid Warrior comes from the 386th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron.

Name: Senior Airman Xanadu Moldenhauer

Unit: 386th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron

Duty title: Knowledge operations manager

Home unit/station: 43rd Communications Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C.

How do you support the mission here?
I provide aircrew support through a variety of roles. I am a personal wireless communication systems custodian, trouble shooting phones and land mobile radio devices for aircrews to make sure they are all accounted for and operating. These are vital to the 386th Expeditionary Operations Group mission to ensure crews and leadership are alerted in an allotted time frame for missions.

I am also the 386th EOG resource advisor, ordering and tracking all E-Form 9 equipment orders that the aircrew, operations group and Squadron Medical Element Clinic need to keep the mission going. From equipment lockers to medical crash carts, I order it all. Another job I have is facility manager. My job is to ensure the building is clean and any issues are immediately addressed, by tracking and monitoring work orders, and the safety checklist is in constant compliance. I am also the shelter-in-place manager, making sure the 386th EOG is mission-ready for any alarm condition; the Post-Attack Reconnaissance team leader, ensuring PAR members are aware of the SIP room, PAR routes and kit locations; and the power request manager, monitoring and tracking PWRR tickets for 386th EOG for equipment. I ensure all hardware criteria is properly filled out, ordered and accounted for. I am also the mail clerk for the 386th EOG, picking up over 50 packages daily and I conduct the in-processing/out-processing of every Operations Group member.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique?
This is my first deployment so it is a new experience.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base?
At my home station, I do client system support, where a majority is computer troubleshooting to all the base squadrons. I do everything from rebuilding computers to encryption certificates and software/hardware downloading. Here, I fill a variety of aircrew support roles.

One role I fill both here and at home station though is morale leader. It's the most important additional duty. Keeping people up beat downrange and at home is important, and I make sure everyone has a reason to smile... me!
