Rock Solid Warrior Published Jan. 22, 2010 SOUTHWEST ASIA -- This week's 386th Air Expeditionary Wing Rock Solid Warrior comes from the 387th Expeditionary Support Squadron. Name: Staff Sgt. Jason Blair Unit: 387th Expeditionary Support Squadron Duty Title: NCO in charge emergency management Home unit/base: 316th Civil Engineer Squadron, Andrews Air Force Base, Md. Hometown: Citrus Heights, Calif. How do you support the mission here? I manage the emergency management program for the 387th Air Expeditionary Group, lead the exercise evaluation team program and develop and review disaster management plans. I also organize, train and equip personnel to mitigate hazards resulting from natural disasters, major accidents and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosive attacks. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? Twice. This deployment is unique because I am in a one-deep slot. The nice part is I have a lot more say in how the program is run. The tough part is there is no one to blame but myself. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? Roughly half of my duties at home station deal with deploying personnel. Now that I am deployed, I am able to focus on the emergency response portion of my job.
