386th AEW names latest Rock Solid Warrior Published Jan. 1, 2010 SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Name: Airman 1st Class Jeremiah Brown Deployed unit: 386th Expeditionary Communications Squadron Duty title: Small computer technician Home unit/station: 754th Electronic Systems Group, Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex, Ala. How do you support the mission here? I provide computer support for the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing by ensuring that all computer systems are running and communicating properly and efficiently. I ensure deployed Airmen have computer connectivity so they can do their work fast and efficiently along with being able to communicate with each other and others around the globe. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment and it has been a very unique experience so far. I have had the opportunity to receive training and experiences that are distinctive to a deployed environment. I have also had the fortunate opportunity to join the base honor guard and see how both my job and the honor guard impact the mission. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? My job here is a very different side of my Air Force specialty code compared to what I do at my home station. Here, everything runs at a quicker pace with a higher priority that allows me to directly impact the operation. I get to work with many different Airmen across different AFSCs and that allows me to see how all our work combines to complete the mission.
