ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published Dec. 7, 2009 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Senior Airman Christian Kamelo Duty Title: Electrical Systems Journeymen Home unit: 154th Civil Engineer Squadron, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii How do you support the mission here? I troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all electrical systems for 386th Air Expeditionary Wing flightline buildings and runway lights. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment. It has been a great experience. I've been able to get more "hands on" exposure to all the different electrical systems, equipment, and parts that I've been trained on and are essential to mission operations here. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base. At my home station we spend time training, to prepare for duty in a deployed environment. Here, you use that training. From listening to members who have been deployed before and I realize what all those exercises and that preparation was for.
