Senior Airman Brenden Green

Duty Title: Aerospace Medical Service Technician

Home unit/station: 45th Medical Operations Squadron, Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.

How do you support the mission here?
As a medical technician, my duties consist of providing ambulance services for the base, administering vaccinations and screening and evaluating patients before they are seen by a doctor. I am able to support the mission by providing these services to the 386th Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility and 386th Expeditionary Medical Support. The 386th CASF is one of only two staging facilities in the AOR. We evaluate and stabilize them before they are transported for further treatment. In the 386th EMEDS, we provide emergency and clinical care to all personnel assigned here.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique?
This is my first deployment and there are many unique things about it. Some of them are helping injured troops back to health and the opportunity to receive direct training and mentoring from those in my chain of command. As a member of the Rising Four executive council, I am also developing my leadership, organization and communication skills.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base?
At Patrick AFB, I work in the family health initiative clinic where my main duties are screening patients for the provider. Here, I screen patients, provide immunizations, give newcomer's briefings and prepare and load patients on and off C-130s, C-17s and helicopters.
