ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published Oct. 8, 2009 386th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Senior Airman Gary Harris Duty Title: Material management equipment liaison Home unit: 116th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia How do you support the mission here? I provide support to the 386 Air Expeditionary Wing by ordering the necessary equipment and performing inventories on these items to ensure that mission needs are being met. I also transfer weapons left here to the home stations of Airmen heading to the states, whether it be for emergency leave or when they finish their deployments. I redistribute assets with no warehouse locations to ensure 100 percent accountability. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment. I believe it is unique because of all the experience and training I am obtaining, along with being able to see first-hand how my job plays a role in the mission. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? At my home base I am doing a different job so this is giving me more experience in my AFSC. Here we are performing real-time missions as opposed to training missions back home. I get to work hands-on with peers from around the globe and get different perspectives about our job.
