Col. Andrew Molnar took command of the 386th Expeditionary Maintenance Group from Col. Herb Phillips, during a change of command ceremony at the Rock Passenger Terminal June 15.

Colonel Molnar, originally from North Canton, Ohio, is deployed from Scott Air Force Base, Ill., where he is chief of the Current Operations Division of Air, Space and Information Operations at Air Mobility Command.

Col. Cameron Torrens, 386th Air Expeditionary Wing commander, oversaw the ceremony. He said, Colonel Molnar's experience as director operations at the Dover Air Force Base Aerial Port and the Ramstein Air Base Air Mobility Squadron make him the perfect fit for command of the 386th EMXG.

"Certainly, we've never had a maintenance group commander here with the breadth of experience he brings to the fight," Colonel Torrens said. "The EMXG will do amazing things this year. We're in good hands."

Upon assuming command, Colonel Molnar took the opportunity to address the Airmen of the 386th EMXG, saying the Airmen and the work they do impress and him.

"'He who has hope, has everything,'" he said, quoting an old Arabian proverb. "I am really impressed, awed, that you provide hope to so many that need it. That is your role. You provide hope to the Airmen in Ops or the Airmen in the mission support group who are loading, flying or using our aircraft. You give hope to our wing leadership who needs to know you are there to get it done. You give that hope every day and it's proven by your record."

Colonel Molnar is a graduate of the University of Akron, Ohio, and received his commission in 1986. He is rated as a master navigator and has flown the C-141, C-5 and the KC-135.
