Airman 1st Class Jason S. Rector

Job: Munitions Systems Journeyman

Home unit: 92nd Maintenance Squadron, Fairchild Air Force Base,Wash.

How do you support the mission here? I support the mission by building and delivering flare countermeasures to C-130 aircraft. I also support ATOC/Special Handling. I provide access to the Munitions Storage Area for the storage of in-transit munitions. Furthermore I complete daily inventories that gives the command real time visibility of munitions moving in and out of the country.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment. I feel that this is unique because I had no idea what to expect. Everything is different here from home station. This deployment has made me feel closer to the mission and has made me appreciate my career field a lot more.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? At home base I do not support the flight line or participate in the type of operations that go on here. This is a completely different learning environment. Here I get to see many things that my CDC's talked about but I have never actually seen such as the flare and munitions that are in transit.
