Job: Diagnostic Imaging/Radiology Technologist

Home unit: 88th Medical Operations Squadron, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio

How do you support the mission here? I am the only technologist that supports the Radiology Department for Logistics Support Area, Veterinarian Services, Squadron Medical Element Clinic, Australian Military Forces and the Rock.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? I deployed as a radiology technologist, but at home station I work as a CAT scan technologist. Being deployed, I work 12-hour shifts, seven days a week since I am the only radiology technician on the Rock. At home I work eight hours a day, five days a week, and I am also on call one to two weeks out of a month.
