ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published March 20, 2009 386th Expeditionary Medical Group SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Senior Airman Justin Sheldon Job: Mental Health Technician, Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility Home station: Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D. How do you support the mission here? I care for the wounded warriors that pass through the CASF; specifically the mental health patients. I also assist with manpower operations within the CASF to help safely execute med-evac missions. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment, and working deployment operations has allowed me to explore different aspects of my job. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? More hands-on involvement with patients and the care provided is more extensive. Also, I have been able to learn more about the patients' mental health needs by working closely with the 386th Expeditionary Medical Group's Combat Stress Team.
