ROCK SOLID WARRIOR

Staff Sgt. Kenneth Jones

Job: Client Support Administrator

Home unit/base: 48th Maintenance Group RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom

How do you support the mission here? I support the mission by providing computer support to include fixing and installing patches, installing updates and cleaning the dust out! In addition, I support the mission administratively by processing Form 9's and 3215's. One of my most time consuming, but all important, missions is to in/out process personnel from the 386th Expeditionary Operations Group, Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron, and the 737th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron. I ensure that when new arrivals hit the ground, their computer account is up and running. The most important service I provide is to ensure personnel receive their care packages in a timely manner.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? I have been deployed twice. What makes this one unique is I am assigned to the CSS, which consists of 23 duties from Base Supply Monitor to Unit Travel Rep. throughout most of my Air Force career, I have worked in a one-deep squadron position. During my first deployment, I worked for the 407th Air Expeditionary Group in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom as the group admin. At the "Rock," I'm working with the Operations Group which affords me the opportunity to see the other side of the mission. I see the effort that goes into scheduling and preparing aircrew to perform the missions of moving personnel and cargo throughout the AOR.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? The job is similar as far as computer access in creating accounts and in updating the computer on the network. At home station I maintain 2,200 users in MXG with six special programs. The difference here, though, is I have other duties in addition to computers. I also assist personnel with surfs, awards and decoration rips and most importantly their redeployment flight.
