Airfield firefighter

Home Unit/base: 133rd Airlift Wing, St. Paul, Minn.

How do you support the mission here? I support the mission as an airfield firefighter, stationed on the flight line providing fire protection for all aircraft and structures.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment, and it has been a great experience. I have received a lot of training and experience that will prepare me for future endeavors.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? At my home base, the fire department does not have an active fire mission and strictly trains for deployments. Here we get put our training to use in a real world environment. We also get experience with aircraft and equipment that my home base doesn't have.
