ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published Dec. 19, 2008 386th Expeditionary Maintenance Group SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Senior Airman Kanei Cooper Commander's Support Staff/Client Support administrator Home unit/base: 754th Electronic Systems Group, Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, Ala. How do you support the mission here? I support the mission by assisting with inprocessing and outprocessing unit personnel, and setting up and closing customer network accounts in a timely manner. I also troubleshoot and provide preventive maintenance on customers' computers. Additionally, I am the Automated Data Processing Equipment monitor accountable for over 500 items. Lastly, I enhance morale with the processing of incoming mail, which totals over 2,500 items since my arrival. It really brightens the recipient's faces when they come to pick up their packages or letters. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment. I really don't have something to compare it to, however this deployment is extra challenging for me since I am a fairly new mom. My daughter Kamari is 11 months old. It helps to be able to web cam home and see her, but there are many that deploy with similar circumstances. Overall, though I have enjoyed the deployment so far, I have learned a lot. It helps when I work with great professionals that focus on customer service. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? The one thing that stands out in my mind is that while deployed, the computer problems that we encounter seem more hardware related, as opposed to home station. We encounter more software problems back home. That is why the preventative maintenance we do is important to keep our customers up and running to perform their mission.
