ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published Dec. 8, 2008 43rd Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Tech. Sgt. Toby Marsh Aircrew Flight Equipment NCO in charge Home unit/base: 755th Operations Support Squadron, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona How do you support the mission here? I'm the NCOIC of the 43rd EECS Aircrew Flight Equipment section, which supports EC-130 flight operations here. My deployed responsibilities include maintenance, repair and tracking of all aircrew flight equipment, which includes, masks, parachutes, harnesses, survival kits, survival vests, rafts, life preservers, anti-exposure gear and protection gear. In addition, I also function as an armorer for our aircrews issuing and receiving weapons pre or post flight. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my third deployment, but first here. This deployment has been unique because it's my first since getting married, and so far it's been great. My marriage has kept me more focused on my work in order to return safe and sound. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? Here we have a few more pieces of equipment to track and inspect, so that makes the day a little more interesting; otherwise the job, essentially, remains the same.
