ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published Oct. 31, 2008 387th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Staff Sgt. Tonisha Scott Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC) controller Home unit/base: 30th Security Forces, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. How do you support the mission here? I protect all property and personnel for which I'm responsible daily. I also protect all those who frequent or transition through the local area. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? I have been deployed three times, including the present one. This deployment is unique in two ways: I'm not in Iraq and I'm not getting shot at daily. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? My job at my home base is a 30th SFS trainer, so I train the greatest defenders on how to protect the base and ensure that the public is safe at all times. My job in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility is to apply those techniques and what I teach to facilitate the protection of the base here.
