ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published Sept. 26, 2008 386th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Staff Sgt. Peter Hayban Library technician Home unit/base: 325th Force Support Squadron, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. How do you support the mission here? I manage the Learning Resource Center's assets and provide quality customer service, entertainment and information to help facilitate coalition forces' continuing education. The center also provides books, research items, DVDs, CDs, CLEP/DANTES study guides and the popular "Read to your kids" program. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my second deployment. It's unique because of the number of fun activities we have provided to our deployed Airmen such as the Luau, Casino Royal, Desert Idol, fun runs and intramural sports, all of which were highly praised and commended by senior leadership. The events also contributed to the improvement of morale and the quality of life at the Rock. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? At home station, I work lodging, which is another aspect of our force support mission. We provide service to the active duty population, retirees and the civilian community in Florida. While deployed, we provide service to those who are separated from their loved ones by offering fun activities and entertainment that lift their spirits and morale.
