Engineering craftsman

Home unit/base: 37th Civil Engineer Squadron, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas

How do you support the mission here? As an Engineering technician, I provide the base with surveys for potential sites of future construction projects, as well as Geobase maps of everything from barrier layouts to aircraft parking plans. The maps and surveys are both used in planning for base defense.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment, so this one is unique in that everything is new to me.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? This job differs for me because here I am in charge of the surveying, drafting and GeoBase programs. Back at home station, I'm just a part of one of them.
