Staff Sgt. Danielle Bruce-Salmon

Aviation Resource Management Section NCO in charge

Home unit/base: 43rd Expeditionary Combat Squadron, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz.

How do you support the mission here? I am responsible for tracking all flight and ground training for deployed aircrews. I also make daily flight authorizations that all 43rd EECS aircrafts use to take off and complete the Operation Iraqi Freedom mission.

How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my fourth deployment; all of them have been here. This deployment is unique because the 43rd EECS has exceeded 2,500 combat missions over Iraq. My unit has been continuously deployed since March 2004.

How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? I do the same things here as home station with one major exception; at home station I have the help of four other Airmen. When deployed, I am in a one deep position and have to complete the work of five by myself. I also handle administrative actions, such as awards and decorations, that I normally do not perform back home.
