ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published June 29, 2008 43rd Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Tech. Sgt. Jason Levasseur Communications Security Responsible Officer Home unit/base: 755th Operations Support Squadron, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base,Tucson, Ariz. How do you support the mission here? I provide crucial communications crypto, which allows for secure communications for every COMPASS CALL sortie. The results promote an electronic warfare umbrella/capability used to help protect/shield U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq. The 43rd EECS employs the offensive counterinformation and electronic attack or EA capabilities in support of tactical air, surface, and special operations forces. In essence we are real-time electronic attack combat air support. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my second deployment to this specific base and my sixth deployment total. The difference between this deployment and my last deployment to this location is the food -- the dining facility here has gotten a lot better. Additionally, dust storms occur more frequently. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? My job is very similar in both locations. One minor difference is that I support our deployed aircrew as a Client Support Administrator fixing computer problems, which is a duty I do not regularly perform at my home unit.
