ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published June 6, 2008 387th Expeditionary Support Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Senior Airman Jose Gutierrez Campos Section Chief, Materiel Management Home unit/base: 62nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, McChord Air Force Base, Wash. How do you support the mission here? I support the 387th Air Expeditionary Group mission with daily monitoring of vital reports, Form-9 requests, control of the 387th ESPTS vehicle fleet, management of drinkable water in support of the Airmen and transient personnel, conduct research and procure mission essential assets, movement of property between bases, allowing a smooth transition of property and personnel throughout the region. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my second deployment; I can say this one is unique because here is where I just found out that I am going to be a dad for the first time, so I'll never forget this place. I can also say that this is a very unique deployment because I get to travel off base every day to go to work. I get to see how the locals drive, the herding of animals on the side of the road and some times car accidents. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? Here in the deployed location I get to experience hands-on the full spectrum of the supply career field and daily operation, from researching, ordering, receiving, in-checking property, performing quality control of documents to reject management, where back home I work in the Mission Readiness Spare Packages Section.
