ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published May 27, 2008 386th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Senior Airman Paul Avera Jr. Equipment Custodian Home unit/base: 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. How do you support the mission here? As an equipment and composite tool kit custodian, I support the mission by making sure all tools, equipment and hazardous materials required to maintain all aircraft on station are on-hand, inspected and maintained. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my third deployment. This deployment is unique because I recently got married. So it's definitely been more of a challenge for me to adapt. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? My job here differs because I actually issue the tools and equipment to the maintainers. Therefore, I've grown to appreciate the customer service aspect of helping the user versus back home where we primarily maintain and deploy the tools and equipment.
