ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published April 5, 2008 386th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Senior Airman Aaron Barnes Intelligence Analyst Home unit/base: 86th Operations Support Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany How do you support the mission here? I analyze, review, and report intelligence information for local U.S. and coalition C-130 aircrews, as well as transient aircraft that pass through our air base. I also research possible threats at locations throughout the Middle East where the aircrews fly to, and brief them about the situations that are happening within their area of responsibility. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment and I'm finding the interaction with all the multinational forces to be the most rewarding. Providing them with the appropriate information to assist them with their operations has given me a great perspective on what I can expect to see later on in my Air Force career. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? Focusing on ground operations to provide a better picture for the aircrews is something that I hadn't experienced much while stationed at Ramstein. Collating reports from different military services and countries into a single product for us to use has proven to be the most challenging.
