ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published March 22, 2008 386 Expeditionary Medical Group SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Tech. Sgt. Matthew Zawalski NCO in charge of Biomedical Equipment Repair and Facility Management Home unit/base: 88th Medical Support Squadron, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio How do you support the mission here? I ensure that all biomedical equipment and the clinical facilities are properly maintained and safe for delivery of wartime medicine. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first air expeditionary force deployment and supporting the combat theater medical mission is an extremely fulfilling and rare career opportunity. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? The camaraderie of the field environment is second to none. The willingness of every Airman doing whatever it takes to get the mission done, even when it's not within their primary Air Force Specialty Code.
