ROCK SOLID WARRIOR Published Feb. 21, 2008 387th Expeditionary Suppport Squadron SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Airman 1st Class Armus Finegan Aircraft armament system apprentice Home unit/base: 4th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. How do you support the mission here? I provide 'force protection' for the base by eliminating potential information collection by non-coalition members. I also ensure the expeditious processing of hundreds of tons valuable cargo and thousands of support troops to and from forward operating locations. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my first deployment and thus far, it has been an amazing and rewarding experience! How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? The challenges. Waking up every morning to face a new experience and learning a different job. My responsibilities here are entirely different from my home base job. The education never stops; pushing me to my limits and beyond. It is rewarding knowing that I'm providing a crucial security measure at this deployed location vital to mission success.
